Programmes Taking Place in Nigeria under DIFN’s umbrella

DIFN programmes have been restructured from September 2006. Over the next 3 to 5 years we aim to focus on the following activities in Nigeria:

 

 

 

Ipaja Community Link / Community Link Network - IPL

Focus of work.

  • Job Creation / Enterprise Training & Business Support
  • Community Health Programs
  • School Based Work / Youth Work
  • Community Development / Community Health Training

Capacity Building Workshops

Development focused workshops, conferences and training primarily aimed at development practitioners in:

  • Community based organisations
  • Local NGOs
  • Faith groups organisations
  • Local and state government staff
  • Other development stakeholders such as the media and interested individuals.

Churches In Development Network - CIDN

CIDN will primarily focus on capacity building in the following areas:

  • Ecumenical HIV/AIDS work in Nigeria
  • Ecumenical Community Development /Community Health Training in Nigeria
  • Ecumenical Social Justice & Advocacy work in Nigeria
  • Sourcing local funding among Churches and Christians in Nigeria for partnership work

Values for Positive Citizenship - VfPC

Values for Positive Citizenship programme is based on the Living Values Education Programme - a UNESCO recognised programme promoting value based education and focusing on 12 universal values essential for constructive development

These are - Cooperation, Freedom, Happiness, Humility, Honesty, Love, Respect, Peace, Unity, Tolerance, Responsibility, and Simplicity.

Diaspora Volunteers

DIFN is engaging with the BME / Diaspora community in the UK [especially people of Nigerian / African decent] offering relevant community development related volunteer placements in Nigeria.
This new initiative comprises of the following

  • Youth / Young Adult Volunteering placements during Easter and Summer holidays / GAP Year placements.
  • Specialist Short Resource Person Placement.
  • Local Government Capacity Building.
