IFN also runs a number of special initiatives through out the year especially to interested Nigeria based community based organizations, NGOs and local government agencies working with youth and young adults.
These initiatives are usually provide free of charge and DFIN is always looking for individuals to sponsors these initiatives. These include:
- Values for Positive Citizenship
This is a 3 day workshop values orientation training programme aimed at young adults who at the end of the training will go on to train youth in their local communities.
- Community / Peer Mediation & Conflict Facilitation Workshops
Here we offer youth and community groups the opportunity of conflict management and conflict coaching training and peer / community mediation training. Workshops range from 2 days to 2 weeks.
- Christians Against Poverty & Injustice In Nigeria – CAPIN
CAPIN aims to offer young Christians, church groups and churches the opportunity to explore what should be the role of the church in tackling poverty and injustice in Nigeria. Training is usually via weekend retreats and conferences.
- Community Link Network [CLN]
CLN provides small community based groups and NGOs, local government councils and educational institutions in Nigeria the opportunity to staff development workshops / training in such areas as: Community Development, Children & Youth Work, Social Work, Needs Assessments and Community Profiling, Advocacy & Campaigning, Effective Team Building & Working in Groups, Evaluation and Monitoring, Report Writing and Introduction to Project Planning. Workshops are provided at very affordable rates to ensure small community based groups, NGOs and local government councils can train up their staff. All facilitators and trainers are highly trained and experienced practitioners many of whom are from the Diaspora
